Anshul Gupta

Since 2014, I have been developing video games. I have had the honour of working with amazing teams comprising of awesome people to work on titles ranging from console, arcade platformers and puzzle games on phone, grand strategy turn based title for PC, immersive training simulators for the Indian Air Force and many more.

My forte in all these projects have always been gameplay programming. Over my decade long journey as a professional indie game developer I have also mastered skills on other aspects of game dev as well such as game design, UX and project management. There are certain skills that I am still actively trying to acquire but honestly feel alien to me, and those are art and sound.

I have explored a lot of technology stack over these years primarily being game engines/frameworks, the likes of, Unity, Unreal, Godot, Phaser, Cocos Creator, etc and of course in order to work with such engines/frameworks I have also become proficient with programming languages such as c#, c++, JS, GDScript.

I have also tinkered with non game dev specific tooling as well such as python, a bit of JS frameworks, lots and lots of note taking / journaling / personal knowledge management softwares such as Logseq, Obsidian, Affine, Luna Task to name a few.

When I am not actively making games, I am gaining competence in digital privacy. For the past 5 years or so, I have been actively working towards taking back control of my digital privacy by obtaining knowledge about the dark patterns being used by big tech giants to extract our information and countering them by increasing digital minimalism in my life and by shifting to private, secure and open source ecosystems. So far my contribution to open source projects have been through being an active paying user to so many useful open source projects and also by being an active member in open source communities to help new people get onboard.
